This is a promotion video for my 2D Platform Game - Selfish, which I made for my final year project in UK, produced with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effect and Unity There is 3 endings based on the choices player make. It's an interactive storytelling and puzzle-solving piece. The player will play as a lionfish, who falls in love with a human prince of the Royal Family. The game is about her journey of granting her wish to become a half-human with a cost. Will the lionfish be able to be with her prince?
The story is based on the concept “Sasaeng fans“. It is a Korean word describing crazy fans, who will stalk and violate the celebrities’ privacy illegally. In which, the protagonist in the story is one of those type of character. And the prince, who plays the violin represents the celebrity being stalked and harrassed.
In these pictures above, the game is showcased on the iOS machine with the promotion video next to it, on the degree show. In which, the game doesn't work as well as when I tried it on my Unity. When the game went to the ending scene, the game didn't go to the credit video and the screen stayed black. So I put a paper sign behind the keyboard the next day, and asked the visitor to "force quit" the game to restart the app after playing. So that the next player will be able to play the full game.
The prospectus is built in using Adobe Indesign, which contains the character design, world design, parts of the storyboard, inspiration, brief of the story and the other documents for calculating the risk of the degree show, etc. In which, the planning of the space and placement of the computers are different from the reality. The room are very small, and each person, who is doing a computer game or website, can only use two computers, unlike the planning of using an entire room for a person. So I just put the game software on one computer and promotion video on the other one.
